Nissan e-NV200 Panel Van
The Nissan e-NV200 is an all-electric light commercial van manufactured by the Japanese automotive manufacturer Nissan Motor Co Ltd. The e-NV200 is based on the Nissan NV200, which was unveiled at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show. The e-NV200 concept all-electric van was unveiled at the 2012 North American International Auto Show. Twenty eight e-NV200 vans were used in a 6 month trail with British Gas in November 2013.
The electric van went on sale in 2014. The 2014 model was fitted with a 24 kWh battery back with a ‘real world’ range of less than 60 miles. Since then, both the battery size and range have increased, with the introduction of the upgraded model in 2018. Nissan has stopped selling the e-NV200 in the UK, but the electric van can be acquired as used.
The electric van is available in one EV battery size: 40 kWh. The automotive manufacturer claims an electric range up to 124 miles on a full charge. Of course, the real-world electric range will be lower, impacted by a number of factors, to include: payload, driving profile, weather conditions, temperature, onboard services used etc. Expect a real-world e-range closer to 100 miles.
The manufacturer offers DC charging up to 50 kW DC. Charging the electric van at 50 kW DC, the EV battery can be charged up to 80% between 40-60 minutes. The Nissan electric van has a 6.6 kW AC onboard charger. Charging at 6.6 kW (single-phase) via a dedicated EV charging station will take 7 hours and 30 minutes to achieve 100% charge. It is worth noting that the electric van uses type 1 for AC charging.
Though the e-van can be charged using a standard 3-PIN domestic plug, we at e-zoomed discourage using a domestic plug to charge an electric vehicle. It will take up to 21 hours and 30 minutes to achieve 100% charge using a domestic 3-PIN plug. In any case, we at e-zoomed encourage a ‘topping up’ approach to charging an electric vehicle. This is beneficial for the long-term maintenance of the onboard EV battery and of course, EV charging times are shorter. Nissan offers a 8 years or 100,000 miles warranty.
In terms of performance, the front-wheel drive (FWD) Nissan e-NV200 panel van delivers a maximum power up to 109 PS and 254 Nm torque. The electric van can achieve 0-62 mph in 14 seconds. The top speed is 76 mph. The electric van also incorporates regenerative braking to improve the efficiency of the EV and increase the electric range.
The e-van has four driving modes. D mode allows for maximum EV performance, Eco mode gives extra driving range by automatically adjusting the acceleration response and the climate control. B mode will increase the strength of regenerative braking to increase the driving range. B & Eco Mode combines the smooth acceleration of Eco mode with the regeneration braking of B Mode to save up to 30% energy and provide maximum driving range
The electric van is available in one length (4560 mm), and offers cargo volume up to 4.2 m3. The payload of the electric commercial van is up to 705 kg. The EV offers 2 seats.
The Nissan e-NV200 is eligible for the UK government plug-in van grant for the ‘small vans’ category. These vehicles are less than 2,500 kilograms (kg) gross vehicle weight, have CO2 emissions of less than 50g/km and can travel at least 96km (60 miles) zero-emission. The grant will pay for 35% of the purchase price for small vans, up to a maximum of £2,500.
Bottom-line, electric driving is good for the environment and the wallet! You can lease electric vans via e-zoomed at competitive prices.
