Trusted Electric Car Salary Sacrifice For Employers/ Employees: An Affordable Way To Drive Electric

    EV Salary Sacrifice: Introduction
What is it:Salary sacrifice is a financial solution offered by an employer to employees through a leasing company. With salary sacrifice scheme you can lease a car with no initial upfront costs on monthly payments and no further obligations at the end of the leasing term. Many leasing companies offer turnkey solutions so the change over to a new car is smooth, added to that maintenance packages can also be added.
Benefits to the employee:A salary sacrifice scheme allows employees to drive a fully electric company car by forgoing a portion of their gross salary. The amount will be deducted before tax and national insurance contributions are applied, just the same as childcare, gym membership or cycle to work plans.
Benefits to the employer:The scheme allows employers to offer employees a new car at a lower cost with a tax efficient payment method. Additionally, the company may also benefit from reduced national insurance contributions payments, Salary sacrifice schemes are HMRC and VAT compliant.
Eligibility: This will be dependent on the employers terms for the scheme generally for employees with a permanent contract, but they may have qualifying times built into their policy. Details will be found in staff handbooks or available from HR department.

    Manufacturer Overview

Lexus, renowned for the manufacture of luxury cars, is owned by the Japanese automotive behemoth, Toyota Motor Corporation. Lexus was created in 1989 to compete against Japanese rivals, Honda Motor Company and Nissan Motor Company, who had established their premium brands, Acura and Infiniti, respectively. However, work on the Lexus concept commenced as early as 1983.

The Lexus brand is now a well recognised global automotive brand in the premium segment, with its luxury cars sold in more than 90 countries. The United States continues to be its largest market. Though Lexus is relatively late to the global electrification (EV) race, the company has been involved with hybrid technology since 2005, the year the hybrid version of the RX crossover made its debut.

The company has been a leader in ‘self-charging hybrid cars’. The company currently has 8 vehicles that use hybrid/ plug-in hybrid technology and has only one battery-electric vehicle (BEV).

    Electric Car Salary Sacrifice

We have teamed up with “ECO” to offer you the opportunity to take up the governments Salary Sacrifice Scheme against a NEW EV vehicles. This scheme can also be applied to all Plugin Hybrids but because the tax class varies on each, individual quotes need to be carried out, just ask. Please find detailed below the scheme and what benefits it provides.

    EV Salary Sacrifice: Overview
What is Salary Sacrifice:* Salary Sacrifice is a government approved employee benefit to support the drive for new cars to be 100% electric by 2035 and offers massive tax savings to the employee guaranteed until 2028.
    * The scheme offers an employee a savings up to 50% on an EV lease, meaning that the employee can substantially upgrade their family or work car or put the extra savings towards their disposable income each month.
    * Furthermore, because this is not a company car, employees can use their EV for personal use and even insure their family members too.
*The scheme is deployed as a company benefit to the employee, where the company is leasing the EV on behalf of the employee. This is paid for with deductions from the employee’s gross salary, which means huge saving on Tax and NI, given that these will be calculated on the new net salary.
Employee Benefits:* Get a brand-new Electric Vehicle for up to 50% cheaper.
    * 28-42% Tax & NI saving dependent on the employee’s tax bracket.
    * 2% Benefit in Kind (BIK) does apply, this is huge reduction from fuels cars which is between 23%-37%.
    * Bundle in your EV, charger, tyres, insurance, maintenance, breakdown plus more with your lease to save even more in Tax and NI and making it hassle free.
    * Equivalent to around 10% pay rise due to reductions in Tax and NI.
    * Save up to 50% on running costs and maintenance compared to a fuel vehicle.
    * Release cash tied up in your privately owned/leased personal car.
    * Contribute positively to the UK’s climate efforts.
    * Saving an average £12,000 on lease cost over 4 years.
    * Perk of employment for the whole family, as can be used for up to 3 people.
Visible and easy ESG action with measurable CO2 reduction:* Each EV under the SSS employer can claim 11500 miles driven towards ESG targets.
    * Each EV is worth 4.6 tons of Carbon Dioxide equivalent to 2800 tree years of carbon offset.
How does it work:* The scheme reduces your Tax & NI via your salary. The cost of your new EV lease will be taken by your employer from your gross salary therefore Tax and NI is paid on your salary minus the EV lease cost.
    * As your Tax and NI is taken from your gross income, which is now lower due to the deduction of your lease cost, your tax will reflect a lower salary rate.
    * This will make a huge difference to your take home pay.
    * Equally the more that you can add to the lease, such as insurance, home charger cost, maintenance, tyres, etc, the more you can save too. Hence the importance of being able to “Bundle” all associated EV costs per annum into the cost of the EV lease, as the government allow this as part of the Salary Sacrifice incentive.
    * This scheme is guaranteed until 2028, although the BIK Tax is due to be reviewed in 2025.
    * You will contractually agree for your company to deduct the EV lease from your salary, once you have decided on your EV lease, as part of the “Salary Sacrifice Scheme”, there is even a built-in assurance to protect your company should you decide to leave employment with them mid-term.
